Sunshards arrived with Version 2.0 on 1 June 2024. Before that, special departures and stadium routes could be driven without a currency. They are spent on specials: U47 special departures, sightseeing routes S1 and S2, and Sunshine Stadium specials. S1 is documented at 1,480 Sunshards. Levels, most routes and the standard fleet are still earned by finishing shifts.
There is a Robux shop option for Sunshards. The amount you need for a special is the same either way. No code box is part of this loop. See the codes page.
Two dailies, one reset
Daily Tasks and Daily Challenges both reset at 00:00 UTC, which is 08:00 Hong Kong time.
Daily Tasks are counters for everyone:
| Counter | Target | Pay |
|---|---|---|
| Join | Log in that day | Counted on the panel |
| Shifts | Finish 3 | 10 Sunshards |
| Passengers | Carry 350 | 10 Sunshards |
| Distance | Drive 30 km in the day | 10 Sunshards |
| Set bonus | Clear the three main tasks | 30 Sunshards more |
The panel can also show an experience line. Read the number on your own client. That bonus text has changed between updates.
Daily Challenges unlock at level 10 and were introduced in Version 2.0. The game assigns a route or a private hire. You can be given a route you have not unlocked, which is the normal way to try locked content.
| Result | Sunshards |
|---|---|
| Finish the assigned shift | 20 |
| First time you ever finish that route | 5 more |
| First time you finish it on pro mode | 15 more |
| A challenge route, wiki range | 20 to 700 |
| Race placing | Up to 800 for first, then less by place |
On the day S1 and S2 launched, two challenges appeared in one day because S1 replaced the earlier challenge when the update went live mid-day. Treat that as an exception, not the normal reset.
Every other Sunshard source
| Source | Amount |
|---|---|
| Daily login | Scales with the streak |
| First time driving a route | 5 |
| First pro-mode finish of a route | 15 |
| Time on a route | 7 at 25 minutes, 14 at 50 minutes. This applies to regular and special services. |
| Achievement | Documented range 10 to 1,000, depending on the achievement |
Boosts: Ultimate Boost pays 50 percent more. A server with the Triple Sunshards boost pays 300 percent. Roblox Plus adds 10 percent. The two large boosts do not stack with each other.
There is no installed calculator on this site for that curve. The 25-minute step is not a crop timer, and the 50-minute payout is 14 rather than a second full 7 stacked on a different rule. Add the row that matches your time, then apply one large boost if you actually own it, then Plus if it applies.
Racing days
Races run on Sundays. During the Hong Kong summer holiday they also run on Saturdays and some weekdays. Routes are normally random. The owner has also picked routes by Discord vote or for an anniversary.
| Race | How it is scored |
|---|---|
| Rush Hour Rush | Fastest time. Developer settings for acceleration, deceleration and passenger walking speed are allowed. |
| Safety First | Each dangerous-driving offence adds a danger point. Lowest points win, then time. Deceleration set above 150 percent still penalises forced hard stops. |
| Grumble Day | Passengers complain constantly. Triggers include speeding over 70 km/h, more than 10 seconds of hard acceleration or braking, driving while people are walking to a seat, and going above 45 km/h with standing passengers. |
| Urban Odyssey | Finish 77X via the Senpai multi-storey car park in the least time. |
Grumble Day thresholds are for that event. Do not treat 70 km/h as the everyday complaint limit on a normal shift. Everyday complaints are described in the first shift guide.
Private hire challenges
A private-hire challenge sends you to between 4 and 7 stops scattered across the Islands, and passengers alight only at the last stop. Some gaps exceed 10 km. Some private-hire challenges run 30 km or more in total. Plan it as highway work. While it is the Daily Challenge, tablet code PH1 can enable private-hire routing, GPS and announcements. PH alone is only the sign.
Routes that normally need Sunshards, routes that require other routes first, and event routes usually cannot appear as the daily challenge. A few, including some 476 variants, have appeared anyway. If the board offers one, the board is the assignment.
What to spend on first
Do not spend the first shards on S1. The open-top loop is a daytime circular from Long Island Ferry Pier and it assumes you can already hold a line. Clear the daily task set, take the level 10 challenge, and buy a special only when you want that specific duty. Stadium extras and typhoon replacements are explained with the special services.
